I found a Lu-Mi-Num cigar token while metal detecting . to of the token says Cleveland and the bottom says Houston. their are 5 holes in the token and in rough shape. Do you know or have any info on this token? I have looked everywhere, hoping y’all would know somthing
Hi James –
There were multiple varieties of the Lu-Mi-Num tokens emitted from the mid 1890s to circa 1910. Many of these varieties were custom struck for local cigar merchants (dealers) throughout the U.S., with the respective merchant’s name and city struck on the obverse of them.
I hope this provides context for your specimen.
Thanks,
Aaron Packard
